The 2011 Round Up

Now that my blog has been established quite a while, I thought it would be great to look back over the past year and see what a roller-coaster 2011 has been.

In January I talked about Rockets grandparents and their bond with him and how they reacted when they found out I was pregnant. I talked about SAD and how my HMS affected me over the winter months and I went through the heartbreak of losing my cat, Loki.

February brought my first wedding anniversary! more HMS flare ups and also coping with having an invisible disability. February also saw my little man turn 1! and celebrate with his little friends and some funny expressions for The Gallery.

In March Rocket had his first visit to A+E with Croup and came to the end of an era with his prescribed Premature milk. At the age of 13 months and 6 days Rocket took his first steps! I discussed saying goodbye to the ‘baby years’ and we had fun at the park.

April was pretty quiet as we were ‘offline’ due to moving into our new bungalow and had no internet. I however did start a meme, Quirky Me.

In May we had a peek into my kitchen for a Meme, got the Internet back and summed up April, shared a family moment for Silent Sunday and visited Build a Bear in Covent Garden.

June came and so did the tantrums and the teething troubles, I re-posted my Birth video and Birth story. We were lucky enough to be sponsored by Gumigem for Cybermummy! We celebrated Fathers Day and suffered the Cybermummy come down.

In July I went to stay with Emma (@methemanandbaby) and saw the lovely Vic. Had troubles with Rocket headbanging, I moved back to WordPress, but self hosted. We worked on an App ‘Family Quest’ for Three. I was worried about Rockets lack of speech, I suffered disability discrimination at Sainsburys, Rocket ended up in hospital again with his second lot of Croup. I found a post I wrote when Rocket was just 1 month old. I took one of my favourite photos of Rocket for Silent Sunday.

August 1st was my 27th Birthday and shortly after, Emma (@adventuresEm) came to visit! My mum guest posted her Birth story with me. Then my laptop broke and my parents got me a new mattress! We also took part in the Tescos BBQ challenge.

In September we randomly visited Chessington World of Adventures with Gerrard the CCIF bear! I shared a poem I wrote about 9/11, took Gerrard with us on Rockets first ever holiday to Center Parcs. Then started the worry about my HMS and the colder months.

In October I started a new diet , I wrote about my pain and emotions and had a good think about Internet safety.

November I reflected back on what I wanted to do when I was younger, was called a legend with limits, and showed my spots for Children In Need.

The last month, December, I got my early Christmas present from my parents, got excited about Christmas, wrote my blog CV and finally had a good clean out post Christmas!

Of course that’s not ALL of my posts but they are the ones that tell the story!

2011 has been a good year in all but 2012 will be even better, we hope at some point next year to become pregnant with our second child and of course share our journey to a family of 4 (plus 1 cat 😉 )

My blog will also see a brand new makeover hopefully within the next month so keep your eyes open for that!

Everyone have a fantastic New Years Eve and please keep safe. Most of all, THANKYOU for following my blog!!

Halloween Vlog

Sorry this post is a day late, I had troubles uploading it yesterday! Hope you all had a fantastic Halloween , we didn’t get a single trick or treater so my fears of the doorbell didn’t happen 🙂

Aaron and I snuggled in to watch ‘The Thing’ .

New word – Video

I just wanted to share a couple of videos of Rocket from last night. At 20 months he’s a late talker and only says a couple of words but last night he out of the blue asked for ‘more’ and it was so cute! It was the first time he had said it and it took us by surprise! I just hope he continues spurting out words as it will help his frustration and tantrums a bit!

The second video he was using his mega blox as a microphone! Please excuse the bad angle, daddy took it and my arm looks HUGE lol.

1st Week Weigh In and Update

Well last night was my first official weigh in! I was nervous a bit but I knew I’d Lost some already.

Their scales said ….. -8lbs!

Just the boost I needed 🙂 and now I am allowed the bars too, one a day plus 3 food packs.

The group were stunned when I asked for all asparagus soups lol but seriously that’s the only one I can stomach!

I had my first bar and I LOVED it! After no solid food the last week it was nice to chew on something, I’m just sad youre not allowed ALL bars lol! – I tried the crispy peanut and it tasted like a peanut breakfast bar – although il be eating my bars in the evening as my evening ‘treat’ when I’m snuggled up with Aaron watching tv!

I have decided I will post monthly photos rather than weekly as you’ll see more change after a month, although I shall be taking regular weekly pictures for myself.

I’m going to take Rocket to soft play today and let him burn his energy off as he’s been cooped indoors the last few days, then off to see Great Grandma.

Eeekk I’m feeling really positive about the weight loss now 🙂 it’s so good to see that dreaded number go down!

Center Parcs – Elveden Forest 2011

A few weeks ago now, I went to Center Parcs Elveden Forest with my family. We were in desperate need of a break and it was such an exciting prospect to be able to stay in a villa with my parents and husband and of course Rocket!

My dad booked the villa and we were all set and counting down the days!

On the first day, having experienced Center Parcs in the past, we decided to get there early and check in but park the car up and scoot off to enjoy the swimming whilst everyone else was queuing to get to the villas in their cars.

Rocket ADORED his first swimming experience! I had taken him when he was about 3 months old but of course he couldn’t remember and we hadn’t gone since.
I was petrified he would scream and be scared but that’s not how he reacted at all! He was a little unsure at first but there were no tears at all and he enjoyed splashing around!

One thing Aaron and I love is the rapids and Aaron loves the slides so it was nice to get some time alone to experience the swimming facilities and at different times of the day. At night when it’s dark the pool is all lit up and the rapids glow blue! It was a very chilled out time and I particularly loved the jacuzzi … Which Rocket did too as it wasn’t that hot. One of our swimming trips Rocket was so worn out and relaxed that he fell asleep while we were dressing him in the changing room!

I loved the shops in the plaza, we were able to buy anything swimming and baby related we needed so my dad bought Rocket a lifesavers swim jacket and we got an underwater digital camera and Aaron got nose plugs so he could go under water comfortably. There were even one off swim nappies (disposable) nappies there so really as far as child friendly goes we were really impressed.

We were given bikes to hire and Rocket had a child trailer that went on the back of my mums bike (which Aaron used mostly) and even though to start it was a bit strange for him he soon loved riding in the back with the wind in his hair!
That day that he fell asleep in the changing room, he didn’t actually wake up til after we got him home in the trailer!

Our villa was awesome, we had a beautiful view out the back as the way the villa was placed you couldn’t see the others and it really did look magical when the sun shined through the trees lighting up the forest. We even saw muntjack deer and lots of squirrels and rabbits!

In the villa a highchair and travel cot were provided and I was extremely pleased with the quality of the travel cot , it was easy to put together and it was wooden and sturdy and it was nice knowing Rocket was safe in it. We didn’t know what the provided travel cot would be like so we also brought our own and he slept in our room in it but to my shock on the first night I was awoken by a tapping on my leg at the end of the bed and as my heart jumped through my throat I realised Rocket had used our bed to lever himself out of his cot! Lesson learnt – never put the cot near something he can use to escape 😉

I had a mobility scooter for the week, which to be honest made my holiday so so more enjoyable. I struggled on our last trip and as the nature of Center Parcs means alot of walking (or biking) the scooter was a god send. You can hire them from the cycle hire shop for £50 for the week and a returnable £200 deposit. It wasn’t very fast but on holiday it’s best to be laid back! So if you are visiting and you have a disability or problems walking then don’t panic as there are disabled friendly facilities.

Aaron was excited to have a few activities booked to do during our stay and the most exciting one was the Extreme Action Challenge which involved a lot of heights!!! Ropes, climbing, jumping of a diddy pole way way up and taking the ‘leap of faith’. I went along to take pictures. We were worried as it had been raining heavily that it would be cancelled but Aaron was really happy to find out they never cancel and it’s all weathers! I’m glad he got to experience this as he was on a natural adrenaline high for the rest of the day!

The other activity that Aaron did alone was laser clay shooting. Again I was able to go take pictures whilst a small group did mini challenges and shot at the clay piece whizzing through the air. This was another one of Aarons great experiences even hough his arm did hurt a bit after! The staff were really nice aswell.

For my birthday treat, Aaron had booked the Aqua Sana spa so I could go with my mum one evening and chill out. This was one of the best experiences of my life I swear! There were many different steam rooms, themed to around the world and I was in heaven. My favourite was near the Japanese garden ( I adore the smell of Jasmine) I could sit outside in the fresh crisp air whilst the flowy pieces of material blew in the wind.

Whatever you like there were many to choose from… Foot spas, sauna, many steam rooms, showers that had aromatherapy oils and fancy statues with ice for refreshing your body.

The pool in the middle of the spa looked amazing but was outside and not heated much so we didn’t stay in there long, mainly because my mums a wimp 😉

After our time there we got dressed to go and there were powerful hairdryers and fluffy dressing gowns and shampoo to use, we loved how equipt it was and I was sad not to be able to spend more time there. We did see construction for new hotel rooms to be built within the spa and if I could ever afford it I wouldn’t hesitate!

The wildlife were always around. Aaron and I were heading down to the laser clay shooting and a squirrel jumped onto Aarons leg and wouldn’t let go! When I tried to get it off it ended up on my chest! I was terrified it would bite but it was really friendly and turned out to be a baby squirrel and we wernt the first that it had approached, we had quite an audience! Luckily Aaron had his camera and managed to get some awesome squibble shots 😉

That wasn’t the only close squirrel encounter either! My dad was napping one day when all of a sudden he came flying into the lounge stunned, turned out that a squirrel had come through his bedroom window and was jumping on his bed!!! We managed to get some awesome pictures of the culprit!

The pancake house….. Need I say any more??? I was in heaven! Omg I would eat there for the rest of my life if I was allowed I liked it that much! Poor Aaron kept getting dragged back for ‘just one more pancake’ lol!

We also ate at Hucks which is the American restaurant – 10/10 for staff friendliness, our waitress was incredibly helpful and the food was delicious! I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was such a big portion I couldn’t finish it. We all came away feeling very full and happy!

One early morning we went on the ‘woodland awakening’ walk. There was a small crowd of us and a leader who provided binoculars for everyone. I wasn’t able to walk far as the scooter couldn’t come and Rocket was a bit restless so Aaron and I took him back to the villa whilst my parents enjoyed the mornings walk and then we met them back at the sports bar where everyone was given a Danish which was delicious!

On the last day I was panicking as I had a whole load of washing to do but I didn’t have to panic for long as they had on site laundry facilities so I was able to go home with no washing to do, it was brilliant! There’s nothing worse than getting home from a week away with loads of dirty washing!

All in all we enjoyed the trip together so much that we are already planning next years holiday, probably to Sherwood Forest! Now I’ve got the Center Parcs bug I’d love to visit them all!

Thank you to Center Parcs for providing a family friendly, fun, fresh and relaxing experience! And a massive thank you to my mum and dad for taking us on this memorable holiday, one we shall never forget!

The Lack of Blogging…

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to assure you that I am still here, just my laptop is currently out of full action as the screen has broken and i can’t afford to have it fixed right now.

I have a backlog of posts to do including the amazing visit we had to Center Parcs recently and as I have those photos on my iPad I will be blogging it very soon so keep and eye out for that.

We are all good over in this neck of the woods and Rocket is growing into a wonderfully loving young man (toddler) and I’m really excited by the fact he will carry out tasks from verbal instruction. He also comes to hold my hand and gives me the most fantastic hugs and it seems he knows when I need them!

Since the weather has been on the turn my joints and my HMS has been progressively worse and yesterday I was in town and once the pain had flooded my body it was like a snowball going downhill and that was it, had to come home and sleep it off.

Despite the pain the autumn brings I actually adore this season, I love the Autumn colours and hallo-ween and firework night but I think Rocket will enjoy it more next year as hes aware of the noises Halloween and fireworks bring but cant reason that they wont hurt him… so no dressing up around the toddler this year!

Tomorrow brings the start of my new diet, it’s a controversial subject so if you don’t have positive words to say then please don’t comment. I am doing this diet as its the last straw for me and there is no talking me out of it. Lighter-Life is the start of me getting my life back.

Signing off for now but I hope to be back in the blogosphere regularly soon!

Take care everyone x

p.s the pictures are from Rockets first play with stickers on a friends letter! 🙂

Center Parcs in… 7 hours time!

Ok… It may be ten to 5 in the morning, but I’m wide awake and really excited as in the morning we are off on our holiday to Center Parcs!! I adore Center Parcs and the last time we were there was in 2008.

Being able to take Luke on his first proper holiday and have his maternal grandparents there to share it means the world to me (although it would have been great to have his other grandad too, we are seeing him next weekend 🙂 )

The bags are packed! My gosh you end up taking so much stuff with a toddler!! Clothes, bottles, calpol, Swim stuff, toys…. The list continues.

The cameras are charged and ready for action and I’m most certain il be coming home to edit thousands literally!

Eeekk I must curb my enthusiasm and head back to sleep I guess!

I shall tweet the holiday, look out for the hashtag #CPweek for updates!

Pink Socks and Crocs….

Today I had a fantabulous day as my friend Emma (AdventuresEm) and her gorgeous daughter O came up to visit for a day of fun with me and Luke!!

I was terrified she wouldn’t find my house as we are in a new estate and Sat Navs still tend to think our house is an old field with a few barns!!! But low and behold shortly after 11am the doorbell rang 🙂

We decided to take the kid-lets to soft play, somewhere Emma wasn’t overly keen 😉 but for me its a bit of a safe haven as I can sit in the ball pool and let Luke get on with it while I kind of rest, although O was a great helper and was keen to look after Luke all day so it really helped having 2 extra sets of eyes on him! My highlight was forgetting to take my bright pink socks off after the soft play (which you are made to wear socks) and putting my crocs back on without thinking… oh i’m so stylish 😉 unfortunately Emma managed to get some incriminating evidence on her phone haha.

After suitably exhausting ourselves in the heat we headed back to mine (Via Tesco’s to get a blow up pool) and with sheer relief I de socked as quick as I could whilst nearly passing out blowing the pool up! (note I didn’t and I actually managed to blow the whole thing up alone WHITHIN 10 MINUTES!!! – I need a medal…. and an inhaler! 😉 )

The kids had fun and so did I snapping away and I love that I got a nice picture of Emma and O together as it’s cute 🙂

I am however now drugged up to the eyeballs and clicking like a lighter thats run out of fluid… so am off to bed! with the fan on full blast!

I had an amazing day and am sad they couldn’t stay longer this time.. but there’s always next time!
