Baker Days – Valentine’s cake review

With Valentines day coming up and b15of course it being Rockets 3rd birthday! It was the perfect time to review a cake from Baker Days. They sent us one of their popular ‘Letterbox’ cakes in the style ‘Superhero’.

The cake arrived in a cute little tin (which is handy even after the cake has gone!) and came with a mini tube of love hearts which I thought was a lovely touch.

We had submitted a photo of Rocket to put on the cake and also the words are personalisable and since Rocket is a valentines baby, we went with that!b13

At first sight I thought as the cake was small there wouldn’t be too much to it but once cut into portions (we got 8) you can get between 4-5 (as suggested on the website). We found that the bite size portions were just enough.

b11The cake itself was incredibly moist and very rich, we were all impressed with the taste and texture and Rocket stuffed his in the quickest!

I love that you can completely personalise a cake and send it as a gift to be received in the post! For £14.99 you get the personalised cake, cake tin, sweets and also free postage and packaging so I believe that it is a fair price to pay.

Overall it has been a great experience reviewing Baker Days Valentines cake and we will definetly be customers in the future!

You can find Baker Days on TWITTER, FACEBOOK and also their WEBSITE.

Review – Barbarossa Pirate Ship

We are very into Pirates in this household and it’s something that Rocket is being brought up with and he loves it just as much as mummy and daddy! There arn’t many pirate play things for the younger ones but we had a chance to review the Barbarossa Pirate Ship from Big Game Hunters Doll Houses Shop and it is a simply stunning older fashioned wooden toy.

It wasn’t long before Rocket and his wild developing imagination were sailing around the living room and shooting canons whilst getting up to mischief!

We have to keep a close eye on Rocket whilst he’s playing though as the age range is 3+ and of course, our little man is only 2 and a half! (thats not to say he doesn’t love it!)

The detail on the ship is beautiful, there are fabric sails with a skulls and swords motif on and working wind up anchor and a fully functioning trap door which makes the ship even more fun to play with.

I find the best thing is it’s beautifully displayed in our lounge whilst not being played with and is definitely an eye catcher when we have guests round!.

Daddy built it as I’m not too great with assembling things, but there’s easy to read instructions with the ship so that’s not a problem!

One small negative we found about the Barbarossa Pirate Ship was the mechanism for the canon, as its spring loaded if not used properly and carefully it can give you a nasty pinch, which we found out about as Rocket used it and it caused a bruise. On closer inspection it is possible that this could also happen to an adult too. We resolved this by taking the canon away (as it’s not fixed onto the ship it didn’t cause a problem.)

I love how it’s so sturdy and detailed! The ship is made from high quality and long lasting wood and you can certainly feel the quality.

We also were sent the Le Toy Van Pirates Budkins which I fell in love with! They are so quirky and I love the costume made out of fun bright colours and the detail that has gone into creating them! Rocket has had lots of fun having pretend battles and posing them onto the ship.

I know the Barbarossa Pirate Ship will be a well loved toy for many years for Rocket and I would recommend it for any little Pirate or Wench!

Kiddy Phoenixfix Pro – Review

We were sent the brand new Kiddy car seat to review a couple of weeks ago now and we have been putting it through its paces! As you might remember we had reviewed the Kiddy Guardian Pro2 in the past and had loved it!

The new PhoenixFix Pro is an absolute delight to use as like the Pro2 its incredibly easy to get in and out of the car, even for me with my weak joints. Once youv’e sat your little one in the seat and put the Kiddy impact shield over them, it slots nicely right into some little grooves which make it alot easier, as a little wriggly toddler will be less likely to push the Impact shield off as you put gentle pressure on it.

The Kiddy PhoenixFix Pro is suitable for ages 9 months to 4 years and covers the weight from 9-18kg making it a group 1 car seat.

One nifty feature of this seat is that it also has K-Fix connectors making it a simple connection with ISOFIX and retraction mechanism, but we have chosen just to have it held in by the seat belt as we change cars a lot and it’s easy to whip in and out!

Rocket looks incredibly comfortable in this seat, he willingly climbs in to be strapped down which is something that only came when changing to a Kiddy car seat, before we had many tears and tantrums and i definitely put this down to comfort and freedom, I love that he has more movement with his arms without compromising his safety.

The seat belt is easy to thread around the Kiddy Impact Shield and holds it nice and tight so I know even the wriggliest Rocket wouldn’t be able to get out!

Another great feature of the PhoenixFix Pro is that the fabric is easily removed and washed at 30c which is fantastic as over time you inevitable gather crumbs, stains from drinks etc and to be able to whip it off for a run through the washer and put it back clean and new is fantastic!

Here is a list of the funky features;

Kiddy Impact Shield – Optimal protection for toddlers in case of a front-end collision.

Honey Comb V2 – High-tech material provides side impact protection to head and shoulders.

K-Fix Connectors – Simple connection with ISOFIX and retraction mechanism.

Thermotex – Breathable, washable material for a pleasant seating environment.

Lightweight Design (6.4 kg) – The lightweight construction facilitates simple exchange between vehicles and provides better safety.

Snooze Position – Easily adjustable reclining position for comfortable sleep.

For use in Aircraft – Approved for use in Aircraft.

Easily Washable – Washable at 30c

We really are firm fans of Kiddy car seats now and everyone that has seen the PhoenixFix Pro in my car have been really impressed with its design and how comfortable and safe Rocket is in the seat. I would definitely recommend this car seat, we have had a fantastic experience with it.

You can visit Kiddy on their WEBSITE, FACEBOOK and TWITTER.

Hello Canvas – Review

There’s no denying that I am absolutely photography mad, anyone can see that! But it may suprise you to know that I have very few pictures actually printed out and displayed in my house! I have 2 external hard drives brimming with photos but that’s no good unless I’m sitting down searching the thousands!

I had never heard of Hello Canvas before and I was offered the chance to review a canvas size 20×28 inches (i’m really bad with imagining sizes so I got my average size 2 year old to stand next to the canvas so you could see how big this was.)

I am absolutely thrilled with it, its huge and the quality is brilliant, it makes my snap look professional and clear. Rocket keeps pointing to it and saying ammmaazziinnnggggg!

The only downside I found was that I couldn’t use pictures that I had edited from my IPhone as they wern’t crisp enough when blown up to this size but as we use our Digital cameras it’s not a problem for us!

I would definitely buy from Hello Canvas in the future and recommend them to anyone that wants to display canvas’s at home!

The website can be found HERE and they are on TWITTER and FACEBOOK too.

The price for the Canvas we were sent (20×28 inches) is £49 but there are a wide range of different sizes and prices to fit any budget!

*We were sent the Canvas free for review purposes, all opinions and words are our own.

www.babyuniqueboutique.co.uk – Happy Hopperz Review

As a mum of a very bouncy 2 year old, i had seen the Happy Hopperz before and was curious to try one out for my little guy. Baby Unique Boutique sent us the blue Dinosaur Happy Hopperz which has been affectionately named ‘Dino’.

Inside the box along with ‘Dino’ was a hand pump to pump him up and once we had spent 10 minutes trying to work out how to use the pump (you need to take the end off the cap and screw in) we were away and pumping!

Rocket took to him straight away and was bouncing up and down and giggling. Happy Hopperz are great for helping children with their balance and coordination skills (Rocket kept falling off but is getting better over time!) – He also has tickle fights with Dino on the floor?!?! I’m guessing he is helping bring his imagination skills out too and he frequently gets kissed also!

Happy Hopperz is now a must have for us, its strong and durable (I guess it needs to be to take rowdy 2 year olds!) and I would definatly recommend them as a toy for bouncy children (It may have just saved my bed 😉 )

Happy Hopperz is only one of the fantastic brands that Baby Unique Boutique work with and tonight is their big launch! So do pop over and take a look around! With a friendly and quick service you wont be disapointed when buying through Baby Unique Boutique.

They are also on FACEBOOK and TWITTER.

Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System Union Jack Pack – Review

As the Jubilee approaches, Dettol have designed a removable patriotic Union Jack skin to cover their No-Touch Hand Wash System.

We were sent the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System as i’d never used one before. I have slight OCD and the thought of not having to touch the hand wash bottle was great to me. It makes it a lot more hygienic for the whole family and stops the spread of germs by killing 99.9%

One of the main worries I had was would I need to screw it to the wall as id only seen these in public toilets etc and they were fixed but that’s not the case and it sits nicely on my windowsill in the kitchen. I’m also now planning to get one for the bathroom too.

They are incredibly easy to use as they have motion sensors and release the soap onto your hands in the perfect little amount.

We have the hydrating cucumber wash and it does indeed leave your hands feeling soft and not dried out, a blessing if you wash your hands a lot!

The Union Jack removable skin is a limited edition and will be available to buy from Morrisons and Ocado mid May .

Lumilove Penguin Review and Giveaway!

We were sent a Lumiove Penguin from Pabobo to review after previously reviewing the Barbapapa. Rocket has taken ‘Pablo’ to bed with him every night since we received him back in July last year and even came on holiday with us!

The Lumilove Penguin, affectionately named ‘Pengy’ is essentially the same as the Barbapapa but with a delightful twist, it’s musical!!! It plays the special Pababo lullaby to your little one on a timer for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes is up and the music has finished the light stays on providing a soft glow of light all night thats comforting to your little person. The music is easily turned back on by holding the button on the base of the Penguin down for 2 second or simply turned of by a quick press of the same button.

Rocket knows that Pablo and Pengy are part of his night time routine now and will climb into bed and ask for us to turn on the lullaby. At first I was wear as to if he would like the music but he really does. It’s not loud, just soft enough to comfort baby and he even can turn the music back on himself in the night if he wakes up. In the morning when I get him from his room he goes and collects Pengy to go back on charge for the day, ready for up to 11 hours of use the next night.

The Lumilove Penguin will automatically light up when removed from its charging base and also if there is a power cut, so serves as a handy comforting light in that instance too. It is suitable from birth as it uses LEDs meaning the plastic never heats up and is perfectly safe against baby’s skin.

I’m incredibly thankful for this little guy as he has helped settle an otherwise stubborn 2 year old into a sleeping routine and I know if he wakes in the night he has a familiar little penguin next to him!

Watch Rocket with his Lumilove Penguin on YouTube here.

Pabobo have kindly donated a Lumilove Penguin to one of my lovely readers, all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning this musical critter is leave a comment below telling me what your child’s favourite comforter/toy is and tweet the following:
